Nicki Minaj on the June/July 2013 Cover of Teen Vogue Magazine

Despite the issues going on with 'American Idol', Nicki Minaj is not letting that slow her down. She is covering the June/July 2013 issue of TEEN VOGUE magazine.

On the cover shot by Sebastian Kim, Nicki is wearing a VIVIENNE WESTWOOD Gold Label, a CHRIS BENZ long sleeve lace tee and a TUTU.com tutu.

The rapper/singer gets real with the magazine and talks about her teen years, the music industry and staying positive. Continue below to read some excerpts from her interview with the magazine. For more details, go to www.teenvogue.com or pick up a coy when the issue hits newsstand.

On her teen years:
"I would never want to be a teenager ever again. You know, adults feel like teens don't have problems. I know first hand that teenagers aren't always the nicest people. They can be cruel and tough, and they can isolate you."

On the music industry:
"People treat this business like it's high school. It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can't be bothered. I can't allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can't be nice to someone just because they're hot right now. I can't do it."

On staying positive:
"I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things? You cannot give negativity power."
