We haven't seen much of Rachel McAdams on the red carpet but she is coming to HBO as one of the stars of 'True Detective' for season 2. The actress is also the 2015 cover star of Marie Claire magazine. On the cover Jan Welters, Rachel is wearing a ERDEM PRE-FALL 2015 long sleeve tie-neck floral long dress which we saw on Felicity Jones during awards season.
In the issue, Rachel opens up about her 'True Detective' character, calling a time-out after 'Mean Girls & 'The Notebook', characters she likes to play and more. Continue below to read some excerpts from her interview and to see more images. For more details on Rachel's feature, visit MarieClaire.com and pick up a copy on newsstand on May 19th.
On her character in True Detective:
"I love that she's not the girlfriend or the wife. She doesn't really care what everyone thinks; she feels no responsibility for other people's feelings. She's not trying to be charming, which isn't always the case with a leading lady. There's [usually] sort of a responsibility to be a little bit likeable… Not that you want to be a horrendous character, just a little more human."
On prepping with the Ventura County Police Department and the LAPD for True Detective:
"I don't know how they do it every day. I was like, 'I'm going to get a hash brown from McDonald's and go to bed.'"
On calling time-out after the Mean Girls-Notebook-Wedding Crashers trifecta:
"I had to kind of reassess and go, What did I want this [success] to be, and how did I expect it to look?"
On the type of characters she likes to play:
"I prefer to be a villainess. There's something a bit more delicious about their wickedness."
