Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer & Janelle Monae on the February 2017 Cover of Essence Magazine


On Christmas day, the world will finally see Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae in their highly anticipated new film, 'Hidden Figures' which is based off of a true story. The stars are on the February 2017 cover of Essence magazine. On the cover which was shot by Warwick Saint, Taraji, Octavia and Janelle rock all black looks. Taraji P. Henson on being told that she couldn't learn math or science:
When I was growing up, people told me out of their mouths math and science are for boys. I was told that over and over. Like, no one showed me how to fall in love with numbers. If I had a teacher like Mrs. Johnson, who knows, I might be on the moon.



Octavia Spencer on the real life Dorothy Vaughn who she portrays in the film:
Dorothy Vaughan is the genesis of Black Girls Code.



Janelle Monae on the ladies behind the film:
I think they would not have achieved the level of success that they did had they not had one another.
