On writing solo material while with Fifth Harmony:
I started when I was about 16. The same time that I had a boy that I liked, who liked me back. When [we were] on tour, or on a day off, I’d just stay at the hotel and write on my laptop.

On if leaving Ffith Harmony was a weight off her shoulders:
Yeah, definitely. It still feels really good… I loved making all the decisions, because the product was something that was fully representative of me. It’s like making your own coffee or breakfast. It tastes better because it’s yours, because you made it. That’s what it felt like for me.

On being solo:
The only thing that was hard was that there was a point where I did not have a life because I was always working. I was like, ‘I really need more balance.’ That was it – this rush of suddenly no time. A few months in, I was like, ‘This is not making me better.
