On the attitude towards black & ethnic minorities after an actor or film wins an award:
People go, great, that’s all sorted, and it drives me fucking mad. This is a continuing conversation. We have to move forward with the questions we ask and evolve with our society.

On good & bad luck:
OK, I’ve had some unlucky moments [her scenes for Steve McQueen’s Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave were lost to the cutting-room floor], but I’ve also been lucky – with kind people essentially, especially directors. But you just fucking get on with it.

On her Preacher character 'Tulip':
She gets her groove back. I had lots of fight scenes too, which are great. There were bruises all over me, but it was worth it.
