70th Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony & 'Ismael's Ghosts' Premiere Wrap-up

The 70th Cannes Film Festival kicked off today(May 17th) and the opening ceremony and 'Ismael's Ghosts' premiere took place this evening at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. To see all of the celeb looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Uma Thurman looked simply beautiful in a ATELIER VERSACE FALL 2016 pink off-the-shoulder pleated floor length dress with a thigh-high split. A sparkly necklace, minimal make-up and a side parted straight bob finished up her look.

Araya A. Hargate debut her baby bump wearing a RALPH & RUSSO ensemble which featured a SPRING 2017 COUTURE white ostrich feathered cape and a FALL 2016 COUTURE white crepe column dress. The cape kept her look alive along with her beauty look and sparkly jewelry.

Bella Hadid worked a sexy look of courtesy of ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER. Her strapless silk floor length dress featured a split neck, thigh high split skirt and a train detail. For me this look is giving me deja vu because it is very similar to the red one she wore last year. Nothing exciting for me at all.

Elle Fanning in Vivienne Westwood Couture at the 70th Cannes Film Festival Opening & 'Ismael's Ghosts' Premiere

It was recently announced that Elle Fanning has joined the L'Oreal family and this evening(May 17th), she attended the 70th Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony & 'Ismael's Ghosts' Premiere in Cannes, France at Palais des Festivals.   

She hit the red carpet in a custom VIVIENNE WESTWOOD COUTURE white satin ball gown with the designer's signature bustier bodice. The gown looks plain from the front but the back features a hand painted unicorn & floral design along with Elle's name.

We don't always see Elle do anything interesting make-up wise but on this occasion, she went with wingtips eyes and a fuchsia lip. Robin ditched wearing a floor length dress or gown for a SAINT LAURENT FALL 2017 black long sleeve beaded swarovski beaded mini dress with padded shoulders, a gathered skirt and short slit.

For me, to be clear, this is such a cute dress & she looked great even though this is not the traditional Cannes opening dress that we are use to seeing. It would also be great for a regular premiere and the black pumps were a safe choice. What do you think of Robin's sparkly look?

Jessica Chastain is on hand as a juror for this year's 70th Cannes Film Festival and this evening(May 17th) she attended the opening ceremony and the 'Ismael's Ghosts' premiere at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. 

She hit the red carpet in a ALEXANDER MCQUEEN PRE-FALL 2017 black strapless floor length dress with a velvet floral embroidered bodice with a bird motif and a sheer & velvet hem skirt. Although I think it wasn't needed, a statement red stone & silver beaded necklace to her look.

However being that this is a strapless dress, you can see why it was added and I still thought she looked elegantly beautiful for the opening. Side parted waves and a smokey eye offset with a red lip finished up her look.

On hand to represent L'Oreal, Julianne Moore attended the 70th Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and 'Ismael's Ghosts' premiere this evening(May 17th) at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. 

On tune with the red carpet, she wore a GIVENCHY SPRING 2017 COUTURE red floral & lace embroidered, feathered halter dress with a high neckline. Julianne's dress was featured in the look book in a pink version but thankfully she chose it in red as the look book color would have washed her out. 

Julianne's dress also featured some modifications like the removal of the fur piece on the neckline. However in most of the images, that shade of red didn't photograph that well on her. On her way to the 'Ismael's Ghosts' premiere and opening ceremony during the 70th Cannes Film Festival on yesterday(May 17th), Chris Lee aka Li Yuchun snapped a pic for instagram of her look. 

She posed for the gram rocking head to toe MAISON MARGIELA SPRING 2017 COUTURE which feature statement earrings, a white mountain hat, a charcoal grey crop, wool coat which was adorned with embellished brooch, contrasting loose red threading & a black trimmed collar with the matching shorts, a slashed white embellished shirt underneath and black slouchy, gathered boots.

It almost comes off a bit costume-y but it is something about it that I really like. It has a cool, edgy appeal which suits Chris style perfectly. While she usually rocks masculine inspired looks at the festival, this look is not a surprise. Are you feeling Chris Cannes look?
