Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive at the 2016 Academy Awards

Following her attendance at the Spirit awards, Cate Blanchett made an enchanting entrance this evening at the 2016 Academy Awards at the Hollywood & Highland Center in LA.

She wore a custom ARMANI PRIVE seafoam green cap-sleeve gown which features a v-neckline hand sewn clusters of Swarovski crystals and feather embroidery.

I love the delicate nature of this gown which Cate pulled off effortlessly. Beauty wise, she added a smokey eye which was offset with light pink lip and a side swept faux bob. Statement diamond jewelry completed her look. Did Cate live up to your expectations this evening?

  2. Unfortunately not, which incidentally, is not a sentence I imagined I would ever formulate in my mind about Cate, let alone type it. It is a beautiful dress ,dont get me wrong and a lovely colour but it looks soooooo "done before". I also dislike those petals on the shoulders as they make it similar to any of those Marchesa overdone gowns. I am a little bit sad. Neck up she looks spectacular and the jewels are exquisite.

    1. I think I was trying to say she played too safe. I prefer when she goes a bit edgier.

    2. I understand what you're saying, I like when she goes edgy too, but this light and exquisite look couldn't have been more befitting of the very formal Academy Awards ceremony. And this is still not just a predictable pretty look - it's fresh, unusual, artistic, and unexpected.

    3. It is very beautiful, no doubt about it. She DOES look very good. It is just those petals running over to the shoulders and the resemblance (admitedly, only in my mind ) and the consequent dislike associated to Marchesa's creations that are stopping me for fully loving it.
