Cate Blanchett in Chanel & Alexander McQueen at the Lancome 2016 BAFTA Nominees Party & the 2016 BAFTA's

As one of the nominees, Cate Blanchett was on hand for the Lancome 2016 British Academy Film Awards Nominees party and the 2016 BAFTA's in London.

For the Lancome 2016 British Academy Film Awards Nominees party at Kensington Palace, she wore a CHANEL PRE-FALL 2016 black midi dress which featured a long sleeve leather top with a split neck & white contrasting cuffs and a shiny tweed embellished skirt. Cate's dress was featured with a matching crop jacket on the runway which she off course she didn't. While I don't favor the high waist on her, it's her shoe choice which are RUPERT SANDERSON, that really doesn't work for me.

This evening she attended the 2016 BAFTA's at the Royal Opera House wearing a custom ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SPRING 2016 gown which featured a cut-out beaded embroidered asymmetrical top and a feathered skirt. I love the elegant statement she is delivering here and while the top was paired with denim on the runway, the feathered skirt adds to the drama of her look. Instead of wearing her go to basic black pumps, I was surprised she opted for GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI black satin peep-toe pumps. A complimentary up-do and TIFFANY & CO jewelry completed her look.

Her second look was easily my favorite here, which was yours?

  1. Chanel is meh. But her red carpet look is absolutely stunning (!) Artistic, dramatic, spectacular, the bodice is striking. We've seen a similar Alexander McQueen design on Jennifer Connelly before, which I thought was a bit overwhelming, but this version is more controlled and preserves the elegance of the silhouette. I like the simple 'do and the diamond accessories add to the bold drama rather than being excessive. I think she pretty much shut down the BAFTAs red carpet.

  2. She looks great in the McQueen. The earrings are a bit too much considering the dress is already busy.
It's her best look for a long time !

    1. Normally, I'd probably also say that the earrings are a bit too much considering the statement bodice but in this case I think her spectacular jewelry actually takes the overall drama even one step further, making it even more striking and intense imo.
