2020 Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards

Billy Porter and more attended the 2020 Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in LA this afternoon(February 6th).

Kerry Washington led the way and she looked great wearing a LANVIN SPRING 2020 two-tone fringe embellished halter dress. The top was un-lined on the runway but Kerry's dress was lined. The dress is fussy but I actually prefer the dress without the lining at the top but I can see why it was added. A flawless beauty look, a brown bag and LORIBLU sandals finished up her look.

Ella Balinska also wore a look from the LANVIN SPRING 2020 collection. She looked great wearing a white cape top and black belted shorts. I wish she wore ankle strap sandals or the runway shoes over the CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN pumps. She still looked great.

Aja Naomi King suited up perfectly in PRABAL GURUNG PRE-FALL 2020 which she accessorized with MATEO jewelry, a red bag and LE SILLA pumps.

Alfre Woodward looked simply great wearing a VALENTINO RESORT 2020 black & white giraffe printed, tie-neck dress which she teamed with black embellished flat mules. However I wish she added a colored lip.

Logan Browning also chose a VALENTINO look. Her white lace top & black strapless mini dress was accessorized with a black clutch from the fashion brand as well and CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN pumps. This is a little on the tween side.

Gabrielle Union stood out as well rocking this ROSIE ASSOULIN RESORT 2020 red & white floral crop top with the matching wide-leg pants. The pattern has a lot going on but she worked it.

Storm Reid stood in a vibrant hue dress courtesy of SERGIO HUDSON. This is a departure from her usually youthful, fun looks but I like the color. Off-set with white pumps, she finished up her look with a colored eye-shadow and a ponytail.

Niecy Nash served up a little leg action wearing a MICHAEL COSTELLO draped one-shoulder dress. I am not loving the dress, especially the waistband. A flawless beauty look and a oval clutch finished up her look.

Issa Rae was pretty in the SOLACE LONDON RESORT 2020 'Edana' blood orange, ruffle high-low hem dress with a contrasting pink underlay. However I would swap out the nude sandals/clutch for silver metallic. This dress deserves better accessories.

Tia Mowry wore the same STELLA MCCARTNEY RESORT 2020 printed dress that we already saw on Liv Tyler in August 2019. I kinda wish she wore a black belt to balance out the pattern and shape.

Janelle Monae wears black & white all the time but she knows how to keep it fresh. She was my favorite in the MARC JACOBS SPRING 202 polka dot dress and hat. However I think a color heel would have been better over the black. Nonetheless, this is a win and her beauty look was flawless.

MJ Rodriguez utilized the split on her HALPERN SPRING 2020 white and blue printed dress. The dress looks a little to loose on her. Also I just wish that her hair was completely off-the-shoulders and that she added a pink lip.

Janet Mock is always on her style A-game and this time was no different. She looked great in this white floral PRADA dress.

Angelica Ross was definitely a standout on the carpet in this custom CELESTINO COUTURE vibrant pink which she accessorized with an JUDITH LEIBER clutch and matching embellished GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI sandals. However I am not 100% loving the design, I more sold on the color.

Lexi Ferguson looked great wearing the KATE SPADE NEW YORK SPRING 2020 gingham black & white shorts suit which was perfect for the occasion.

Priah Ferguson also wore KATE SPADE NEW YORK SPRING 2020 and she looked great wearing the 'Toss' cherry printed belted jacket and the matching shorts.

Marsai Martin rocked a LISON skirt suit which featured the 'Lucille' pink & silver heart jacquard jacket with the matching 'Libby' skirt. The jacket looks a little too big on her but I kinda wish she wore the pants or maybe a blouse with the skirt. In general, this feels a tad mature as always.
