2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Following the Billboard awards, Quinta Brunson and more attended the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards which was held on yesterday(March 4th) in Santa Monica, California.

Michelle Yeoh looked gorgeous wearing a one-shoulder, cocktail dress by GUCCI. It's been a while since I have seen a dress from the label that wasn't over-designed. This was elegant and perfect for Michelle. 

Gabrielle Union also wore a look by GUCCI. I like the idea behind her purple sequin & paillettes skirt suit but I feel like the jacket & the skirt aren't working together and the platform sandals are way too heavy. Beauty look was simple but flawless as always. 

Beatrice Granno also wore GUCCI but her sequin jacket is from the label's SPRING 2023 collection. This is giving me a 80's vibe, cool and edgy. 

Jodie Turner-Smith looked beautiful wearing a ELIE SAAB COUTURE mini dress with ANITA KO jewelry. The feathers and the beaded embellishments provided playful movement. Beauty look was flawless as always. 

Taylor Russell is in a fashion league of her own and I am here. As the new face of LOEWE it is no surprise that she is wearing a look from the label. This is so Avant-Garde and she looked fantastic in it. 

Claire Foy looked beautiful wearing a CAROLINA HERRERA PRE-FALL 2023 strapless black & silver sequin embellished, cocktail dress. I like that the beauty look was clean and no extra jewelry was added because the dress remained the focal point as it should. 

Vicky Krieps wore a CHANEL SPRING 2023 long printed shirtdress which was belted at the waist. I like this but I wish that she didn't wear boots. 

Mia Goth went the vintage route, wearing a semi see-through dress by JOHN GALLIANO from ARALDA VINTAGE. This is simple but sultry and I actually like it because it suits her.

Aubrey Plaza wore a SAINT LAURENT FALL 2022 suit and she looked great but the pants really needed to be hemmed. 

Cate Blanchett once again recycled a look, wearing a LOEWE FALL 2018 suit which she first wore at the 2018 Cannes Festival. For me, I don't like the sleeves other than that, she looked great. 

Jamie Lee Curtis wore a printed suit from the LIBERTINE FALL 2023 COLLECTION which was accessorized with CATHY WATERMAN jewelry and PERSOL eyeglasses. 

Haley Lu Richardson sparkled on the carpet in a RODARTE SPRING 2023 silver sequined, holographic mini dress with the matching flared pants. This is a fun, disco ensemble but I really dislike the platform shoes with it. 

Monica Barbaro had fun with her CHRISTIAN DIOR RESRTO 2023 white lace, off-the-shoulder dress. It was the perfect look for the occasion. 

Rooney Mara also went the vintage route, wearing a GIVENCHY BY JOHN GALLIANO SPRING 1997 ensemble from TAB VINTAGE. I have seen Rooney is soft pink hues but I can't recall her ever wearing red. It's not a bad look but I like it because it's great to see her in color. 

MJ Rodriguez looked gorgeous wearing this LEAN ERZIAK SPRING 2023 COUTURE red flower mini dress. My only nitpick is that I missed the volume that it had on the runway. 

Jessie Buckley and Andrea Rosenborough both wore pleated flare skirt suits by CHRISTIAN DIOR. I actually like both of their looks but not the shoe choices but mainly Andrea's. She is wearing black tights with the nude pumps and it's not working for me. I feel like with all of the Dior looks that the label has, they both chose looks that were slightly matronly. 

Danielle Deadwyler wore a CHANEL SPRING 2023 white tweed shorts suit with a playful, feather panel. I am not a fan of the lace trim on the hem of the shorts or the quality of the shorts suit. However, given the occasion, it worked for it. 

Quinta Brunson went all out wearing a ALIETTE FALL 2023 marigold printed & feather strapless gown. Love the color but I really the feathers were a bit higher on the waist so that it didn't look like the print is outlining the crotch area. 

Simona Tabasco wore a JEAN PAUL GAULTIER slip dress and although it's not the most exciting look, she looked great for the occasion. 

Jenny Slate suited up in THOM BROWNE. I feel like there are some fit issues with the pants and the creases aren't helping. However, I do like the jacket. 

Regina Hall wore a ANDREW KWON dress which was accessorized with a TYLER ELLIS clutch and ALEANDRE BIRMAN sandals. The dress is on the fussy side but she does look pretty in white. 

Sherry Lee Ralph looked absolutely gorgeous wearing this TONY WARD FALL 2022 COUTURE tea length dress. The ombre color combo looked fantastic on her. My only nitpick is that we could see the sheer corset underneath. 

Stephanie Hsu wore the KHOON HOII FALL 2022 ''Madelca'' dress which was accessorized with DELFINA DELETTREZ jewelry. I am actually glad the length of the dress was shorten for her because the ankle length wouldn't have worked for her height. I do feel like a colored lip would have been a nice addition along with a sparkly bracelet or ring. 

Ayo Edebiri looked great wearing a OSCAR DE LA RENTA SPRING 2023 gold strapless embellished mini dress. 

Sarah Bolger wore a GRETA CONSTANTINE RESORR 2023 yellow strapless tea length gown. The creases are unfortunate but I prefer how the model wore it with the pink sandals. Don't get me wrong, Sarah looked great. The red lip and mani/pedi were a great compliment. JENNY BIRD jewelry and JIMMY CHOO sandals finished up her look. 

Taylour Paige wore a green ACNE STUDIOS FALL 2023 ribbed slip gown with with a draped neckline, flower accents and a draped panel in the back. Thankfully the cutouts were covered on her gown, so that it doesn't look so worn. It's not my favorite look but it's not a bad one either.
