2013 Pantone Color of the Year: 17-5641 Emerald

Last month PANTONE revealed the 'Color of the Year' for 2013, Emerald. Emerald, a vivid verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony. Most often this color is associated with brilliance and precious gemstones. However the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious.

Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity. No other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.

Over the course of the year in 2012, we have seen tons of celebs step out in emerald like colors from Salma Hayek, Kelly Rowland, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Krysten Ritter and more. From handbags, nail polishes, gowns and shoes, emerald has been seen everywhere on the red carpet and street fashion. Read more to see how this hue will play a part in fashion, beauty and interior.
