2017 National Board of Review Gala Wrap-up

Yesterday evening(January 4th) the 2017 National Board of Review Gala took place at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. To see all of the celeb looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Octavia Spencer kept it simple in a black ensemble which featured a LAFAYETTE three-quarter sleeve key-hole peplum top and a TADASHI SHOJI skirt. I think a colored lip and/or statement accessories could have enhanced her look. NEIL RODGERS heels and a black clutch finished up her look.

Royalty Hightower posed with Quvenzhane Wallis on the carpet. Royalty won the 'Best Breakthrough Actress' award wearing a black & white beaded tulle layered gown. If she ditched the choker and opted for a simpler belt, this would have been a winning look. Quvenzhane wore a sleeveless black satin & velvet beaded dress with a peter pan collar. A black small tote & sandals, silver jewelry and a minimal beauty look topped off her great look.

Riley Keough wore a black long sleeve DOLCE & GABBANA knee length dress which featured a sheer frayed corset top with contrasting burgundy beaded buttons & satin bows. I am not feeling this look at all and the black JIMMY CHOO pumps with such a sultry dress are a let down.

Overall for the event, Naomie Harris was the best dressed. Do you agree?

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Marni at the 2017 National Board of Review Gala

We don't see Maggie Gyllenhaal on the carpet often but she attended the 2017 National Board of Review Gala yesterday evening(January 4th) at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

She hit the black carpet in a MARNI RESORT 2017 black, pink & dark teal shatter print cap sleeve dress with a ruched side panel and a asymmetrical hem. I am usually not a fan of Maggie's red carpet looks but this I like.

Also I think her PAUL ANDREW pumps works with the tricky length of her dress. However I wish she went with a different lip color over the bright red, maybe a red that a little darker or pink. HIROTAKA & JENNIFER FISHER jewelry and a up-do finished up her look. What do you think of Maggie's look?

Naomie Harris in Brandon Maxwell at the 2017 National Board of Review Gala

Style wise, Naomie Harris ended last year on a high note. Yesterday evening(January 4th) she attended the 2017 National Board of Review Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

She hit the black carpet in voted designer to watch this year, BRANDON MAXWELL. She rocked a SPRING 2017 jumpsuit which featured a silk, plunging neckline bodysuit and pleated high-waist, wide-leg trousers. I love this look on Naomie and I was hoping to see it on the carpet.

However while the pants look a little long, my main quibble is that I wish the pants had a better fit on the waist like on the model. Working a minimal make-up look as always, she finished up with straight off-the-shoulder tresses EFFY jewelry and a brown satin clutch. Does Naomie's look work for you?

Amy Adams in Marchesa at the 2017 National Board of Review Gala

Following her attendance at the Palm Springs Film Festival awards, Amy Adams jetted here to New York for the 2017 National Board of Review Gala yesterday evening(January 4th) at Cipriani 42nd Street.

She hit the black carpet in an all black look which featured a MARCHESA PRE-FALL 2017 lace embroidered dress with satin bell sleeves & a key-hole tie neck and JIMMY CHOO sandals.

Beauty wise, she went with side parted straight off-the-shoulder tresses and minimal make-up. This sophisticated, feminine cocktail dress suits Amy's style. However I like the look of the dress on the model. CARTIER jewelry finished up her look. Did Amy win you over with this all black look?

Gerta Gerwig in Prada at the 2017 National Board of Review Gala

Yesterday evening(January 4th) Greta Gerwig hit the black carpet at the 2017 National Board of Review Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

For the occasion, she wore a long sleeve velvet PRADA sequin embellished mock neck, floor length dress with a cut-out back, a side split and a ruched waist.

I am thankful that this is not the same embellished chiffon dress that we have seen from the brand last year. With that said, I am not a fan of this look at all. BRIAN ATWOOD heels finished up her look. Are you feeling Greta's Prada look?
