50th NAACP Image Awards Wrap-up

Last night(March 30th) the 50th NAACP Image Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. To see all of the celeb looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Regina Hall wore the RAMY BROOK 'Linley' rose pink one-shoulder dress, featuring a cutout knotted waist, and a high slit. If I had to nitpick, I wish the hair was completely off-the-shoulders.

Tika Sumpter presented wearing the SAFIYAA FALL 2018 'Mardelle' light blue off-the-shoulder, with an gathered like bow detail. While Tika looked beautiful in red, I kinda wish the wore the light blue. The color would have looked equally amazing on her. Her look was topped off with a chic ponytail which you can see better HERE.

Sanaa Lathan worked the split on her HANEY SPRING 2019 black gown. Her 'Coco' gown featured a deep v-neck and belted waist, which was topped off with JIMMY CHOO sandals. I love that ponytail that her hairstylist Larry J Sims gave her to top off her sultry look.

Kate Beckinsale showed some skin, wearing a long sleeve black and nude, sheer illusion beaded dress from the JULIEN MACDONALD SPRING 2019 collection. Padded shoulders, a v-neckline, a cutout waist and a center front split were the details on Kate's sultry piece. Surprisingly Kate ditched her signature hairstyle for the first time that I can remember. She went with center part, off-the-shoulder light waves. The dress is right up Kate's style alley but I don't think it works for this awards show. Maybe the Grammy's and/or VMA What do you think of Kate's look?

Ebonee Davis was another celeb who worked the split on her dress. She opted for a BURNETTE PRE-FALL 2019 gown, which featured a white long sleeve beaded, v-neck top and a black draped, train detail skirt.

Uzo Aduba seemingly skipped the red carpet but her stylist did snap a pic of her look for instagram. She chose a ROSETTA GETTY FALL 2019 gold tie neck, shift gown, which was accessorized with IRENE NEWWITH earrings and a JUDITH LEIBER clutch.

Lena Waithe worked a masculine inspired look courtesy of GRAYSCALE. I really like her green printed blazer which she accessorized with a black turtleneck, black trousers and black AQUATALIA shoes.

Chrissy Metz re-wore a custom CHRISTIAN SIRIANO dress, which she wore on Glamour previously. However gold buttons was added to the neckline which made her dress interesting.

50th NAACP Image Awards Men

The men showed out yesterday evening(March 30th) for the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. To see all of the red carpet looks, click HERE.

Chadwick Boseman who walked away a winner, posed in a custom VERSACE PRE-FALL 2019 suit. The jacket is the star and I love the women's version of the jacket which was styled with matching trousers. The pants look a little snug which comes off as if he has a camel toe. Also I wish he wore loafers instead of those heavy shoes. Nonetheless, I really like this jacket for him.

Beyonce & Jay-Z at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Following their win at the GLAAD awards, Beyonce and Jay-Z walked away as winners again during the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California. They don't do red carpet anymore so of course Bey posted their look to instagram

Beyonce worked the split on her BALMAIN SPRING 2019 COUTURE dress. She also wore the matching hat from the runway. For me, I actually prefer the runway version as I like the dress without a top underneath the bodice and the volume & pleating works so much better. Bey ditched the shorts for briefs but she seemingly looked a tad uncomfortable on stage, as she kept pulling on the dress to close the split.

Jay-Z wore a navy double suit from the LOUIS VUITTON collection. However once again, those pants needed to be hemmed. An ALEX TODD watch which took 3000 hours to make, rounded out his look.

Kiki Layne, Storm Reid, Letitia Wright & Yvonne Orji in Georges Chakra at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Kiki Layne, Storm Reid and Yvonne Orji wore different GEORGES CHAKRA dresses yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Kiki Layne is still on her winning style streak as she looked divine wearing a light blue airy silk-chiffon gown from the designer's SPRING 2019 COUTURE collection. Her flawless beauty look complimented her strapless, layered gown which came with a matching scarf.

Cynthia Erivo & Rutina Wesley in Mario Dice at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Wearing MARIO DICE SPRING 2019, Cynthia Erivo and Rutina Wesley attended the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Cynthia Erivo is known for wearing difficult pieces on the carpet and this look was no different. Her pink layered dress featured a cascading ruffle cape and a center front split lace dress underneath. There is definitely a lot going on here and I can't say that I am loving it but kudos to her for always stepping outside the box.  COOMI jewelry rounded out her look.

Tracee Ellis Ross in Marc Jacobs at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Tracee Ellis Ross posed with her award following her win yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Whether the dramatic pieces that Tracee wears are a hit or miss, I love how she always has fun with his fashion choices. This whimsical MARC JACOBS FALL 2019 polka dot feather gown suits her personality and style. There is a lot of fabric here bit it's just enough for Tracee.

Ensuring that nothing competes with her playful piece, her hair was pulled up with bangs. A touch of color came via her purple lips which topped off her winning look along with black pumps.

Chloe x Halle in Sergio Hudson at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Sister duo Chloe x Halle rocked coordinated SERGIO HUDSON FALL 2019 looks on the red carpet yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Chloe Bailey wore a purple long sleeve belted dress, that gazed the floor. She changed the neckline which did not work in her favor. I prefer the dress as is in the look book and the altered neckline does not work. I think the bodice should have been changed to a crewneck to compliment her look.

Halle Bailey wore a vibrant orange, sleeveless mini dress, with a turtleneck and belted waist. Her dress works but I just wish it was fitted on the waist. Both sisters finished up with flawless beauty looks.

What do you think of Chloe x Halle's Sergio Hudson looks?

Issa Rae in Oscar de la Renta at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Before her presenting duties, Issa Rae posed on the red carpet yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

I love this yellow pleated OSCAR DE LA RENTA PRE-FAL 2019 gown that Issa is wearing because the color looks divine on her. However on this occasion, I wish she didn't add a belt.

It doesn't make the dress look flattering on her. Beauty look is flawless which topped off her look along with an L'AFSHAR clutch. How do you prefer the gown, with or without the belt?

Laura Harrier in Pyer Moss at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Laura Harrier was a presenter yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Laura ditched wearing Louis Vuitton for a PYER MOSS SPRING 2019 dress. Her yellow curtain-draped silk dress was accessorized with gold earrings and red ankle strap sandals.

The draping is not the most flattering, especially in the mid-section but I do like the color. Beauty wise, she complimented her look with a slick, center part up-do and a red lip which topped off her look.

Marsai Martin in Georges Hobeika Couture at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Marsai Martin walked away a winner during the non-televised show and she also attended the 50th NAACP Image Awards live show at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California.

So far I have been loving Marsai's style and even though this is a gorgeous GEORGES HOBEIKA SPRING 2019 COUTURE gown, it doesn't work on her.

This is a very mature design for Marsai and I think it is suited for someone on the taller side. ALEXIS BITTAR jewelry rounded out her look. Do you agree or do you think Marsai pulled this off?

Lupita Nyong'o in Giambattista Valli Couture at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

On hand as a nominee, Lupita Nyong'o attended the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California.

She really worked the split on her GIAMBATTISTA VALLI FALL 2016 COUTURE plum off-the-shoulder silk-chiffon dress. On the runway, the dress was adorned with a statement butterfly brooch on the waist and she definitely should have kept it. It kept the dress interesting, however I do think this dress would be better on someone on the taller side.

Also I don't like the color on her, it just doesn't work against her skin tone and she focused too much on that split(Angelina Jolie came to mine). Nonetheless, I do like how she owns every look and she is a beauty. A partially braided up-do, diamond jewelry and ALEXANDRE BIRMAN sandals rounded out her look. What do you think of Lupita's look?

Thandie Newton in Valentino at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

On hand as a presenter, Thandie Newton attended the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California.

The actress could not be missed wearing a VALENTINO PRE-FALL 2019 red one long sleeve ruffle organza gown, featuring a cinched waist. To compliment her detailed gown, she wore her natural curls in a half-up, half-down off-the-shoulder hairstyle.

I love the model in this gown on the runway but Thandie pulled it off as well. Accessorized with statement earrings and red sandals, she finished up her beautiful look with minimal make-up.

Danai Gurira in Rosie Assoulin at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Danai Gurira was a presenter yesterday evening(March 30th) at the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

It's been a minute since I have seen Danai wearing ROSIE ASSOULIN on the carpet and she looked beautiful wearing a gown from the fashion house FALL 2019 COLLECTION.

She wore the 'Rosie's Flower' black & white stripe panel, halter gown, featuring an asymmetrical ruffle hem. SOPHIE BUHAI jewelry, ROGER VIVIER heels and a flawless beauty look rounded out her look.

Logan Browning in Michael Kors Collection at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Style wise, Logan Browning has been on her A-game. The actress attended the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California.

Brown is a difficult color to pull off but I think in this instance, that is not the case. Logan was a sophisticated beauty wearing a MICHAEL KORS COLLECTION PRE-FALL 2019 brown & black feather embellished, peplum dress, which was belted at the waist.

Her beauty look was flawless as always, which topped off her look along with a gold statement jewelry and CASADEI ankle strap sandals.

Yara Shahidi in Balmain at the 50th NAACP Image Awards

Yara Shahidi was on hand for the 50th NAACP Image Awards at the Dolby Theatre yesterday evening(March 30th) in Hollywood, California.

The 'Grown-ish' star chose a statement piece from the BALMAIN FALL 2019 collection. Her black long sleeve sequin mini dress was layered with an organza ruffle bustier, which is detachable. I like this piece but I just don't think it suits Yara.

I feel like it needs someone with height, like Zendaya because she could have definitely pulled this off. Also her hair should have been in a sleeker hairstyle. BRIAN ATWOOD pumps finished up her look. Do you think Yara pulled this Balmain dress off?
