Cafe Society 69th Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony Wrap-up

The 69th Cannes Film Festival kicked off today in Cannes, France and a ton of celebs hit the red carpet for the Cafe Society premiere and the opening ceremony. To see all of the red carpet looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Vanessa Paradis who is also a jury member, wore a CHANEL RESORT 2017 pastel lace embroidered short sleeve dress with an sequin embellished flower on the shoulder. Vanessa's dress was adorned with a silver belt on the runway but she left it out. However she didn't need it but an up-do would have been complimentary to her look.

Frédérique Bel wore a ZUHAIR MURAD SPRING 2016 black and rose embellished v-neck gown. I like the gown but the styling doesn't work for me. The hairstyle is a bit matronly and while the black & white stripe clutch was a nice edition, it feels too heavy.

Victoria Beckham kept it simple in one of her designs from the FALL 2016 collection. While I like her strapless black jumpsuit with an contrasting white panel, it doesn't work for a Cannes premiere, maybe a photocall. Also the fit of the pants leg is just bad and the pointy toe pumps doesn't help.

Valeria Golino who was also a jury member, wore a VALENTINO FALL 2016 sheer nude embellished layered long sleeve gown with a contrasting leather wrap around belt.

Bianca Balti wore a ALBERTA FERRETTI exclusive light blue silk bustier tier tulle gown with a contrasting black lace and a long train detail. She dressed up her beautiful look with CHOPARD jewelry.

Doutzen Kroes wore a BRANDON MAXWELL FALL 2016 black tuxedo halter gown which featured a velvet cut-out top and a center front split skirt. A colored lip and a strappy sandal could have elevated her look.

Li Bingbing wore one of my favorite couture designers STEPHANE ROLLAND SPRING 2016 COUTURE two-tone halter gown which featured a black top with embellished crisscross straps in the back and a dramatic white pleated ball gown skirt. I kinda wish she went with a bolder red lip but she still looked elegantly beautiful.

  1. Elegantly dramatic Li Bingbing, also one of my faves.
    Underwhelming overall.

    1. Overall, Araya is the only one who captured the spirit and brought the drama worthy of Cannes opening ceremony in her one of a kind Couture creation.

    2. and I also think Bianca is quite on point for the occasion, I'm just not too fond of those tulle layers and the contrasting black detailing against that grey-ish blue.

  2. Those pants are not a good advert for Victoria's business. I like the idea of wearing a jumpsuit, like breaking rules, but she could have chosen a more glamorous one.
Li Bingbing is the best look of this lot.

  3. Li Bingbing looks the best. Cannes opening worthy - elegant glam. Victoria Beckham's look is my least favorite. The fit/length of the pants is horrendous. And even if that was not the case - it is extremely underwhelming.
