2016 BET Awards Wrap-up

Yesterday the 2016 BET Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in LA. To see all of the white carpet looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Aja Naomi King of 'How to Get Away with Murder' wore a BROGNANO FALL 2016 sheer aqua ruffled chiffon dress with a center front split. Aja's dress was featured in the look book with an contrasting red belt which I wish she kept because it added a chic balance to her look. However my main issue here is that I don't like those black briefs that are showing underneath.

Meagan Good showed some skin in a green LORENA SARBU FALL 2015 silk crepe gown with cut-outs and a side front split. I actually liked Meagan's look. It didn't scream wow but she looked great. Side swept braids, a red lip and gold accessories finished up her look.

Karrueche Tran wore a black FAUSTO PUGLISI gold button front dress styled with gold jewelry and gold LOUBOUTIN sandals. The dress looks a bit tight but she looks cute.

Andra Day went for her signature glam look wearing a floral sequin & strap calf length dress. I like the dress but the hair and especially the MARCHESA heels gets a no from me.

Lisa Raye McCoy has been wearing white everyday for more than 10 years now so her look is no surprise. She wore a FONTASIA L'AMOUR white long sleeve sequin jumpsuit with sheer side panels. Even if you dislike her overall look, it's hard to nitpick when you are wondering why the bra is showing. This doesn't work for me.

Quvenzhane Wallis is growing up right before us. The young starlet kept it simple in a turquoise dress styled with a white shoulder bag and ballerina flats.

Kimberly Elise wore a blush pink and silver beaded evening dress styled with silver accessories. Cute but not exciting.

Letoya Luckett one of the original members of Destiny Child's, couldn't even remember the designer's name that she was wearing. However she was wearing a MACDUGGAL red crossover halter dress with a side front split detail and a short train. Love her short pixie and matching red lip.

Mya wore a yellow CHRISTIAN SIRIANO SPRING 2014 strapless split detail dress with the matching trousers. If this looks familiar, that's because Solange Knowles wore it first in December 2014. Love this ensemble but the styling is boring. An extra pop of color via her jewelry to enhance the appeal of her look would have been ideal.

Toni Braxton is beautiful but to me, she tries to hard to be sexy when she doesn't need to. If she would let it come off naturally, she would be okay. Looking through her images, she was just trying to hard to sell this BAO TRANCHI black one long sleeve cut-out dress with the waist high side splits. Also the hair & make-up doesn't compliment the sexy dress.

Eva Marcille wore a YAS COUTURE long sleeve floral embroidered mini dress styled with black AQUAZARRA sandals. I can't say that I like this, choker and all.

Tinashe I am not sure who dressed you but you were set up. This PHILIPP PLEIN black lace dress looks like she is trying to hard to get attention when she doesn't need to because she is a such beautiful girl that can do better than this.

Gabrielle Union, Janelle Monae and Chloe & Halle Bailey were the only ones that stood out at this event to me. Who was your favorite?

  1. I had never heard of Lisa Raye McCoy before, but thought it was so interesting that you said she's worn only white for ten years. So I looked her images up and omg you're right! SO strange!

  2. Apparently she has been wearing white 10+yrs because she loves how crisp & clean it makes her look, no special reason. She is also the half sister of rapper Da Brat. Movies: The Players Club, The Wood, Beauty Shop, Gang of Roses. TV shows: All of Us, VH1's Single Ladies. She's been in the game a long time.

Andra Day is wearing Marchesa shoes. She's my favorite from this group.
