2022 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards

This evening(March 24th) in LA, the 2022 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards took place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and the event will be airing on Monday(March 28th).

Storm Reid wore a flirty LAPOINTE FALL 2022 yellow cutout dress with feather cuffs. The placements of the feathers are odd but they do add playful movement to her look. I don't think she needed the yellow shadow but it looked great on her.

MJ Rodriguez looked gorgeous wearing this JASON WU COLLECTION SPRING 2022 two-tier, floral dress. I kinda wish she wore orange sandals as well but it's still a winning look.

Demi Singleton wore a ZIMMERMANN SPRING 2022 ensemble and she looked pretty but I wish the skirt was shorten for her. A knee length version would have looked great but I still like this along with her flawless beauty look.

Chante Adams worked her frame in a purple satin & crepe, off-the-shoulder cutout dress from the SERGIO HUDSON FALL 2021 collection. If you are getting deja vu, that's because Blake Lively wore in in black earlier this week but her version wasn't off-the-shoulders. For me, I really dislike how that top was re-worked for her. It looks unflattering and the quality looks cheap. The top should have been re-worked with Blake's top. Love the color though.

Robin Thede looked pretty in a printed VALENTINO SPRING 2022 layered gown but I wish that she kept the belt.

Serena Williams worked her frame in a magenta cutout mini dress from her S by SERENA collection. Metallic sandals would have been better but she is working that dress.

Akira Akbar wore a ST. JOHN FALL 2022 and it's a great look but I would have belted the waist. Also I feel like metallic heels would have been a better shoe choice.

Karreuche dipped into the BALMAIN archives for this SPRING 2020 black & white stripe mini dress. The sleeves are supposed to be loose & long but they are just a little too long on her.

Shannon Thornton rocked a sultry EDITE red cutout mini dress, with a flowing side train. This may not be for everyone but she is really working it and I thought she looked good.

Kaci Walfall also wore a look from the ZIMMERMANN SPRING 2022 collection and she looked pretty in this blush, puffy sleeve mini dress. I just wish she wore the same color shoes as the model. It would have really elevated this.

Quinta Brunson worked the angular split on her HANIFA dress with feather cuffs. Ideally, I feel like this is suited for someone on the taller side & the design is not working for her but I like the color.
