55th NAACP Image Awards

On Saturday(March 16th) the 55th Annual NAACP Image Awards was held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in LA.

Halle Bailey wore a NICOLE + FELICIA COUTURE green strapless, rosette gown. She looked pretty but this needed some jewelry. 

Kerry Washington also wore a shade of green courtesy of VIVIENNE WESTWOOD. She accessorized her draped gown with BULGARI jewelry and D'ACCORI heels. I'm not 100% sold on this shade of green but she does look pretty. 

Usher was honored at the event wearing a LAQUAN SMITH FALL 2024 black satin suit. I really wish this was in a different fabric with a better fit. 

Amanda Gorman struck a pose in a navy sequin, pleated dress by PRADA. I'm not always sold on the red carpet dresses from the fashion house, but I think this works on Amanda. 

Ava DuVernay also wore PRADA and it was basically similar to the same silhouette that she almost always wears. Although, that's not a bad thing, I am hoping that she steps outside of her style comfort zone. 

Andra Day wore a NAEEM KHAN FALL 2023 one-shoulder, side slit dress with an ostrich feather cape. Love this electric blue hue on her. I just wish that she left the gloves out. 

Aunjanue Ellis wore a custom look by JOVANA LOUIS and I love this sky blue hue on her. The cape added some drama to her suit. I don't think the picture is doing this justice, because it actually looked gorgeous on the carpet. 

Fantasia wore a custom look by MONOT, and my main issue here is the fit. She looked so constricted and she had trouble walking. Also, I don't think the sequin gloves were needed with that sequin bow. 

Damson Idris walked away a winner wearing a TOMMY HILFIGER suit. The addition of the rose diamond brooch elevated his look. 

Idris Elba presented in a GUCCI suit and this was such a great color. However, a brooch or a pocket square was needed. 

India Amarteifio walked away a winner wearing a TOLU COKER FALL 2021 blue & black houndstooth off-the-shoulder, faux wrap dress, matching hat and heels. She was easily one of my favorites, but I wish that she didn't wearing the look books shoes. A simple ankle strap heel would have been ideal.

Madisin Rian wore a SAIID KOBEISY FALL 2023 COUTURE strapless jumpsuit with the matching cape and this looked so much better on the runway. The design and the fit doesn't look great on her. 

Misty Copeland wore a DOLCE & GABBANA ensemble which was accessorized with DAVID YURMAN jewelry, a MANOLO BLAHNIK clutch and GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI heels. I like the idea but I am not feeling how the top & pants are fitting on her. 

Keke Palmer wore a TOM FORD jacker, shirt and tie with DOLCE & GABBANA trousers. I don't mind the top half, but I am not feeling the bottom half. I wish the pants were a bit more tapered. 

Nathalie Emmanuel wore a ALBERTA FERRETTI SPRING 2024 satin and sheer organza dress, and this color doesn't look great on her. A darker hue would have been better. 

Naturi Naughton wore a strapless velvet gown from the MARCHESA FALL 2023 collection. I like this gown, but it looks a bit too tight on her. 

Quinta Brunson wore a NAEEM KHAN white tulle and sequin art deco, layered gown. This hits the bridal border, but she does look pretty. I just think a necklace was needed. 

Sabrina Elba wore the same nude VERSACE FALL 2001 draped dress which we saw first on Olivia Cooke in September 2022. 

Sheryl Lee Ralph looked gorgeous wearing a GORGEOUS HOBEIKA FALL 2023 sequin, silk-chiffon cape dress. A necklace wouldn't have hurt but she still pulled it off. 

Taraji P Henson looked beautiful wearing a yellow gown from the DEL CORE SPRING 2024 collection. The color looked fantastic on her. 

Yara Shahidi wore a SALVATORE FERRAGAMO SPRING 2024 black leather and crepe pleated dress. The design of the top is weird, but she pulls it off.
