2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' Wrap-up

On Monday(May 5th) the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Colman Domingo wore two different custom looks by VALENTINO and he looked good in both of them. The electric blue, embroidered pleated cape was an ode to Andre Leon Tally and I just loved the color on him. He then switched into a black and white suit which featured a grid print, polka dots and grey cuffed trousers. His looks never disappoints.

Lupita Nyong'o, Dua Lipa & Jenni in Chanel Couture at the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style''

Lupita Nyong'o, Dua Lipa and Jenni wore CHANEL COUTURE on Monday(May 5th) to the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Lupita Nyong'o looked stunning in this pastel blue double-breasted suit which was adorned with a matching silk-chiffon cape. This was perfection in my opinion with playful, but elegant homage to Little Richard. Her hat was courtesy of MAISON MICHEL.

Dua Lipa's look was inspired by the label's FALL 2015 COUTURE collection and her dress was adorned with 45,000 embroidered details. Dua's piece came with a crop jacket which she removed, but I wish that she kept it on for pictures on the red carpet. It really added to the meaning of her look and somehow it got lost without it.

Celebs in Louis Vuitton at the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style''

As the creative director of LOUIS VUITTON men's, Pharrell Williams brought some celebs along with him to the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Sunday(May 5th) in New York City.

Zendaya's look was an ode to the film 'Mahogany' which was played by the legendary Diana Ross. If you saw the movie, then you know this was the perfect interpretation of the theme in conjunction with the style from the film. From the tailoring and the crisp white hue, she effortlessly slayed this look. 

Sabrina Carpenter looked great in this burgundy hue, but only like her look waist up. However, I am not sold on a hairstyle. Also, I feel like tailored pants like Zendaya's could have made this a 1000 x's better.

Celebs in Thom Browne at the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style''

On Monday( May 5th) the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and below are a some of the that wore THOM BROWNE.

Zoe Saldana stepped out of her style comfort zone and she perfectly nailed the theme. Her tuxedo dress featured 2,700,000 white bugle beads that tied together with an oversized bow cascading to the ground that flowed into a train. The structure and the tailoring really elevated the appeal of her overall look. 

Demi Moore's look was all about the tie which is the focal point of the suit. Her black & white sculpted tie dress featured over 1,400,000 beads, including 222,000 pieces of black rectangle sequins, 1,093,500 pieces of shiny black bugle beads, and 103,500 pieces of black cut beads. I get the idea behind her look and TB is really great at executing styles like this. It was a clever take on the theme.

Mindy Kaling, Simone Biles and Andra McDonal wore custom HARBISON on Monday evening(May 5th) for the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' which was held at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Mindy Kaling was one of my favorites, but when it comes to her style, she rarely disappoints. She wore the 'Libra' custom tuxedo, shirt and cummerbund with a flowing train in the back. She looked elegantly beautiful in this masculine inspired tux. I like how the designer creatively took on the theme while incorporating his signature details.
