On Monday(May 5th) the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating ''Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'' was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The co-chairs this year were Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour. Click HERE to see all of the celeb looks and continue below for the wrap-up.
Colman Domingo wore two different custom looks by VALENTINO and he looked good in both of them. The electric blue, embroidered pleated cape was an ode to Andre Leon Tally and I just loved the color on him. He then switched into a black and white suit which featured a grid print, polka dots and grey cuffed trousers. His looks never disappoints.
Barry Keoghan wore a custom VALENTINO suit which was featured in a similar version in the brand's PRE-FALL 2025 collection. He kinda looks like a bellman, but the fit is definitely off.
Doja Cat wore a custom look by MARC JACOBS and the reference to the theme is there. However, my issue with her look is that leopard panel. It kinda cheapens the appeal of her look. I wish this was all stripes.
Rihanna debut a pregnancy bump wearing custom MARC JACOBS and it had the whole internet buzzing. I love all of the this, especially the hat, the way the fit is on her baby bump and the unique take on the bustle. She hit us with a beautiful slay.
Lewis Hamilton looked so good in this white tuxedo courtesy of WALES BONNER. I am not 100% sold on the hat, but as co-chair of the event, he delivered.
FKA Twigs wore WALES BONNER as well and her take on dandyism was created with performer ''Josephine Baker'' in mind. This was indeed a beautiful and perfect execution on the theme which she brought to life on the carpet. I just wish the white feathers matched one of the colors on her dress.
Jenna Ortega was one of my favorites in this custom BALMAIN strapless, column dress. What I love most of this dress is the interpretation of the theme. The rulers and the fit was spot on.
Priyanka Chopra was also in BALMAIN. She opted for a polka dot, belted halter dress which was accessorized with a hat and an emerald stone necklace. It was a nice look, but I don't think it works for the occasion.
Madonna wore a TOM FORD FALL 2025 white satin tuxedo and I am so disappointed. The fit is not good nor the overall execution.
Shakira wore a custom ATELIER PRABAL GURUNG gown and this was not a good look at all which disappoints. PG usually serves up some great looks for the gala, but with this one. I'm not loving the sheer panel or the gloves and the texture of the train doesn't work the dress in my opinion.
Nicole Scherzinger also wore a custom ATELIER PRABAL GURUNG look. With the exception of the fit on the bust, this was a much better interpretation of the theme by the designer.
Andre 3000 rocked a BURBERRY suit while carrying a fake piano and trash bag. This theme was perfect for him and I am glad that he attended. It was a unique approach to the theme which only he can do.
Jodie Turner-Smith served us wearing head to toe burgundy courtesy of BURBERRY. I kinda wish the hat was a little smaller, but she gave us perfect reminder on why she is who she is on the carpet.
Ivy Getty wore a custom THEBE MAGUGU tier pleated, cape sleeve dress. The inspiration behind her look came from photographer Mama Casset muses in which he captured their sartorial elegance in images. It was great ode to the theme, but I wish that it was done in a different color.
Monica Barbaro wore a CHRISTIAN DIOR COUTURE 1947 piece when the designer himself introduced to fashion 'The New Look'. This collection made history for the designer and it was perfect for Monica to wear at the gala.
Miranda Kerr wore a custom CHRISTIAN DIOR COUTURE dress which was the reimagining of Dior’s 1949 ‘Camaïeu’ dress. The femininity of the dress with added tailoring, touched on the theme of the gala.
Serena Williams wore an off-the-shoulder silk, sheer organza panel dress with a dramatic quilted cape by MONCLER. I do like the color, but the quilted cape reminds me of a bed quilt/comforter.
Venus Williams wore custom green pleated embellished mini dress and cape coat by LACOSTE. I get the direction, but I don't love the execution. Also, the shoes are just a big no.
Teyana Taylor did a fabulous job of rocking the theme and her custom look came courtesy of Oscar winning costume designer RUTHI E. CARTER. Accessorized with DAVID YURMAN jewelry, Teyana gave us the perfect slay for the gala.
Taraji P. Henson wore a custom MONSE x POST IMPERIAL and I thought that she looked great, but I really wish that she wore pants. Still, it's not a bad look and it's on theme.
Joey King was a delight to see because she looked fantastic in this MIU MIU suit. From the embellishments, the color, the print and the fit, she nailed the theme.
Gigi Hadid sparkled beautifully in a gold embellished halter dress by MIU MIU. He dress took inspiration from Zelda Wynn Valdes a black designer who designed a very similar dress like this for Josephine Baker. Love everything about this including her victory rolls.
Kerry Washington took on the theme by wearing a custom SIMKHAI look that seems to be inspired by Dior's 'The New Look' which Monica Barbaro also took on(see above). I just wish the skirt was done in a different fabric.
Nicole Kidman went the vintage route, opting for a BALENCIAGA 1952 black strapless, tea length gown. Love the head styling, but I wish her gown was much closer to the real designer.
Chance The Rapper posed with designer Donatella Versace while wearing a custom VERSACE suit. On this occasion, I like the baggy approach and his look was right on theme.
Kylie Jenner opted for a custom look by SALVATORE FERRAGAMO. I like the idea of this look but it's just too tight on the bust. She wore a sash on the carpet at first which I wish she kept on.
Sofia Richie wore a custom white bow back TOMMY HILFIGER dress and this was boring and forgettable. It wasn't worthy of the occasion.
Tyla wore a custom JAQUEMUS stripe cape coat with the matching dress. I think my issue with this look is the fit because it would have worked better if the tailoring was right.
Pamela Anderson wore a custom silver embellished TORY BURCH gown that looks very stiff. The head. styling doesn't compliment it at all.
Ashley Graham wore a custom grey look by BOSS. I really dislike the fit of the jacket and I don't think those pumps were a good shoe choice.
Miley Cyrus showed off her toned abs in custom look by ALAIA. It's not a bad look but it didn't give what it needed to for the occasion.
Kim Kardashian wore a custom look by CHROME HEARTS and with the exception of the hat, this is nothing different than what she usually wears.
Natasha Lyonne wore a ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FALL 2025 lilac high collar dress. I just can't believe that with all the tailored suits that McQueen has that she chose to wear this.
Lala in archival OFF-WHITE FALL 2020 piece and I get the direction it was going, but I think it missed the mark. Also, the fit looks off.
Bee Shaffer wore a custom GIVENCHY FALL 2025 and I think generally speaking, she looked great. However, I don't like it for the occasion and I think the necklace could have been left out.
Cynthia Erivo wore a custom, dramatic GIVENCHY COUTURE piece. The boots elevates this, but I wish the fabric of the skirt was different.
Quinta Brunson also wore a custom design by SERGIO HUDSON and she looked gorgeous. I just think the fit on the bust is off.
Jennifer Goicoechea Raymond who is the wife of Usher, served an unexpected slay on the carpet wearing a custom look by SERGIO HUDSON.
Diana Ross hasn't been to the gala in about twenty years and she returned this year wearing a custom ELEVEN SIXTEEN piece. Bow dow to the queen that is Diana Ross because she returned with a dramatic slay. The hat is a bit distracting, but how can you quibble about Ms. Ross.
