Reem Acra Bridal Spring 2014 Presentation

Recently during Bridal Market Spring 2014, I attended the REEM ACRA runway show and the body became the focal point for this season's bride. The theme of the collection is 'Thank You For The Love' which was printed on the veils the models were wearing. It's all about finding your sensuality with a fresh approach.

Reem played close attention to detailing as she always does with beautiful hand embroidered fabrics that defined and flattered the figure. Lace and sheer illusion panels were done on the necklines & the backs which added a sultry edge to the gowns. The peplum trend continues to bridal which is no surprise as this has been a huge trend for a while in RTW lines. The designer incorporated this detail in her collection as well.

One of the main things that stood out in the collection to me, was the veils. I have already pictured myself in one especially the umbrella veil. Other standouts includes cascading tulle skirts, a mini illusion embroidered dress and a column gown with a feathery organza mermaid finish. Before the show, I had the opportunity to talk to Reem Acra about the collection, Kate Hudson,  & more. Continue below to see what she shared with me. TFS: What was your inspiration behind this collection?

RA: The message is 'Thank You For Your Love'. The first look will show the message. It's all about expressing your sensuality. I worked a lot with body sculpting and through the sculpting with fabric, is layering the fabric on top of each other, cutting out to make sure nobody looks un-breathable. Fit 'n' flares, showing her low backs, putting the touches of the detail from the traditional gown with the embroidered button down, the naked back and the lace elements that look like lingerie but brings out the sensuality in the women. So just sensuality & freshness. I also took the ball gown shape and lighten them. I started to removed rather than add. Removing and putting my signature touch which is embroidery.

TFS: You are known for your detailing but tell me, who is the Reem Acra bride?

RA: She is the one that is smart and I feel she knows fashion. She looks thirty years down the road and not for today. She is very proactive and thinking how she is going to look at her pictures in thirty years. When you wear these dresses, you know that they are made with embroidery that will never age. The intricacy's of the details is something that she will cherish later on.

TFS: So Kate Hudson stunned in a mint chiffon gown from your Resort 2013 collection at the Tiffany Blue Book Ball. How did you feel when you saw her?

RA: OMG, I was just shocked. First off, I love her. She was wearing this dress and it fit her perfectly. Her skin tone worked perfectly, everything about her look was perfect. She picked the right dress for that event, especially because of the Tiffany color.

TFS: I know that we are in the middle of bridal week but let's jumps ahead. What can we expect from you for Spring 2014 during NY Fashion Week in September?

RA: I promise you have not started thinking about that but in the coming weeks I have meetings to start work on that. So nothing yet.
