2021 MTV Video Music Awards

Yesterday evening(September 12th) at the Barclays Center in New York, the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards took place and the celebs were back in full force on the red carpet. 

Kacey Musgraves who performed for the first time at the event, rocked a VALENTINO FALL 2021 COUTURE purple pleated mini dress, feather hat and red leather opera gloves. My only quibble are the shoes which don't really do anything to compliment this playful, edgy ensemble. 

Travis Scott walked away a winner wearing a BOTTEGA VENETA all black ensemble, accessorized with silver necklaces. I mean this is classic Travis, it doesn't excite but it's not a bad look.

Ed Sheeran rocked a custom sharply tailored VERSACE jacket boasting the brand's iconic Barocco print and is finished with a gold-tone Medusa button. The jacket is the star here.

Bia wore a playful and sexy BOTTEGA VENETA FALL 2021 red fringe, draped halter mini dress and accessories.  

Doja Cat hosted the event and she hit the carpet wearing a ANDREAS KRONTHALER for VIVIENNE WESTWOOD FALL 2019 ensemble and jewelry. I thought she looked good for the occasion but I am not loving the jewelry or the platform sandals. 

Olivia Rodrigo performed and walked away a winner for her first appearance at the event. She wore an orange strapless VERSACE SPRING 2001 COUTURE gown with a contrasting fuchsia tulle panel draped over it. She looked pretty and I like the color-way. 

Avril Lavigne wore a AREA FALL 2021 pink plaid, crystal beaded suit with a sequin bra top underneath. We have definitely seen similar looks from the brand a lot but I like this for the occasion, it's pretty fun, sexy look. I just wish the pants were hemmed. 

Halle Bailey wore a sexy white cutout, long dress from the MONOT SPRING 2021 collection. The top is tricky and the bottom needed to be hemmed but she doesn't look bad. 

Chloe wore a MARNI FALL 2021 silver metallic, draped panel dress and necklace. This is giving aluminum foil but I like that she took the fashion risk and she is owning.

Kim Petras wore a RICHARD QUINN FALL 2021 floral embellished dress and black latex face catsuit. This is giving romantic dominatrix and this is what the VMA's is all about.

Rita Ora was on hand as presenter wearing a VERA WANG SPRING 2021 ensemble and thigh-high platform boots. A long, pulled back ponytail would have enhanced this look for the occasion. 

Winnie Harlow walked the runway at the LAQUAN SMITH SPRING 2022 she a few days ago so I am not surprised that she chose a look from his new collection. Panty shorts continue to be a hot trend and what better place to rock this look.. 

Saweetie looked pretty in a VALENTINO RESORT 2022 silver metallic, pleated dress which was accessorized with DJULA jewelry and JESSICA RICH sandals.

Megan Fox was on hand to support boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly rocking a very sexy and sheer MUGLER SPRING 2021 dress. I mean this is risky but she is wearing the heck out of it.

Machine Gun Kelly stood out in a DOLCE & GABBANA Alta Sartoria suit which he paired with black dress shoes.

Alicia Keys wore a LOUIS VUITTON FALL 2021 jacket which was styled with an all black ensemble. I think this is a great look but it's a little too warm out for it. 

Jennifer Lopez skipped the red carpet but her stylist Rob + Mariel posted her sultry DAVID KOMA RESORT 2022 look on instagram. 

Camila Cabello wore a ALEXIS MABILLE FALL 2021 COUTURE pink and red strapless, bow waist gown. I am glad that she is stepped outside of her comfort zone thanks to her new stylists Rob + Mariel but I don't think this works for this type of carpet. Also that big red bow is a no for me. KATKIM jewelry and GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI sandals finished up her look. 

Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian posed together on the carpet wearing all black looks. Travis cool as can be in a simple black suit but it's the accessories that kept his look from being boring. Kourtney rocked a sexy black, cold-shoulder leather mini dress from the OLIVIER THEYSKENS SPRING 2021 collection. 

Ashanti wore a very sexy and revealing look by MICHAEL COSTELLO but it looks like a costume. 

Charli XCX wore a very revealing SHAWNA WU black custom mini dress. We may not like but it worked for the occasion. 

Normani wore a PATRYC JAPAGAS sexy white ensemble. I don't like the bottom half but she looks good and that jacket is fire.
