2022 MTV VMA's

Yesterday evening(August 28th) in Newark, New Jersey, the 2022 MTV VMAs took place at the Prudential Center with LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow on-hand as the hosts.

Lizzo was on-hand as a performer and nominee. She made a dramatic entrance wearing a JEAN PAUL GAULTIER SPRING 2022 COUTURE navy off-the-shoulder, taffeta gown and she looked amazing. I just wish her jewelry had more of a sparkle to it but that doesn't negate how beautiful she looks. Also I like the addition of the sheer opera gloves.

Lil Nas X served some drama as well wearing the same custom HARRIS REED look that Iman wore to the 2021 MET Gala in gold. I love it, especially how he always takes risks but I really wished that the designer created something fresh for him.

Anitta struck a pose in a SCHIAPARELLI FALL 2022 red corset gown and she wears it well. The design is weird but this is what is expected at the VMA's.

Jack Harlow hosted, performed and was a nominee at the big event. He hit the carpet in a HERMES FALL 2022 chocolate brown, leather suit. I dislike the fabric of the top and the pants needed to be hemmed. The boots doesn't work with it either but the suit in general is a great look.

J Balvin rocked an all white suit from the LOUIS VUITTON SPRING 2022 collection. I can get past the baggy pants but the blazer definitely needed to be tailored.

Sabrina Carpenter wore a sultry sequin, floral embellished MOSCHINO RESORT 2023 cutout halter dress which looked great on her. Too bad the hairstyle didn't compliment it.

Sofia Carson wore a CAROLINA HERRERA RESORT 2023 dress with DAVID YURMAN jewelry and this is a no for me. From the fabric to the look, I can't get onboard with the top half.

Murda Beatz rocked a FENDI FALL 2022 burgundy suit with the shoulder bag and logo loafers. I love this hue on him. I think the pants needed to be hemmed but it's still not a bad look.

BlackPink was on hand as performers and the girls wore as follows: Lisa wearing Celine, Jisoo in Christian Dior Resort 2023, Jennie in Chanel and Rose in Saint Laurent. I really liked Jisoo's Dior dress, just not for this event.

Ashley Graham showed some skin in a black cutout HOUGHTON halter dress which was an edit version from the bridal collection.

Khalid wore a VERSACE FALL 2022 that very much speaks to his style. I like the color story here.

Colton Haynes wore a DIOR MEN SPRING 2022 lime green suit and I just love this color.

Chloe Bailey presented in a custom ZIGMAN dress, paired with JIMMY CHOO sandals. She is a beautiful girl but I'm not loving this.

Bebe Rexha wore a VIVIENNE WESTWOOD classic draped, corset dress in black. The fit on the bust is off and I would swap out those platform sandals for sleek, black embellished ankle strap.

Latto wore a LADO BOKUCHAVA SPRING 2022 lime green, cutout skirt suit with coordinating THE ATTICO mules. This looks so much better on the model.

Sheenseea wore a MARC JACOBS SPRING 2022 and if it looks familiar, that's because Beyonce wore it in her British Vogue feature for the July 2022 issue. This is more of an editorial piece but it's not working on her. I feel like the results would be different on Zendaya or Rihanna on the carpet.

Ava Max wore a COPERNI SPRING 2022 ensemble and although I am not a fan, it suits her and the occasion.

Taylor Swift wore a OSCAR DE LA RENTA RESORT 2023 sheer embellished mini dress and it looks more like a ''Dancing with the Stars'' performance piece. It's dated and the hair & make-up doesn't work with it.

Becky G looked gorgeous wearing a sexy, cutout embellished dress from the ZUHAIR MURAD FALL 2022 COUTURE collection.

Lili Reinhart presented in a FENDI FALL 2022 dress which was a bit on the fussy side. But simple beauty look allowed nothing to compete with it.

Dove Cameron wore a PACO RABANNE SPRING 2023 dress and it looks a little better on the runway but Dove's beauty look does compliment it.

Dylan O'Brien wore a BODE PRE-FALL 2022 ensemble and it looks like he just rolled out of bed. I love the look book's styling.
