28th Critics Choice Awards

Yesterday evening(January 15th) in LA, the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza. 

Cate Blanchett looked sophisticated in a MAX MARA SPRING 2023 shirt and floor length skirt. I loved this look, so effortlessly chic. 

Janelle Monae rocked a sexy dress from the VERA WANG SPRING 2023 collection. Even though the thigh cutouts aren't good, she still looked amazing. 

Julia Roberts wore a black SCHIAPARELLI floor length dress and the gold sequins is what kept this interesting. But it's still forgettable. ROGER VIVIER sandals finished up her look. 

Jennifer Coolidge wore another DOLCE & GABBANA dress and she should have definitely left the gloves out. KATE SPADE NY sandals & GRAZIELA GEMS jewelry finished up her look. 

Paul Dano wore a DOLCE & GABBANA blue embellished suit and I really like this color on him. 

Andrew Garfield wore another suit by ZEGNA and he looked great but I wish that he wore some Chelsea boots.

Kerry Washington looked beautiful in a GIORGIO ARMANI PRIVE FALL 2022 COUTURE strapless, column dress. Love the sequin, floral embellishments which look fantastic on her. 

Michelle Yeoh is always gonna win. She looked amazing wearing this CAROLINA HERRERA PRE-FALL 2023 black dress and fuchsia cape. The cape is clearly the star here but a necklace would have been a great choice. 

Quinta Brunson worked a ROBERT WUN SPRING 2023 gown. It's ''high fashion'' no doubt but the design does not look great on her. This feels more like an editorial piece. GRAZIELA GEMS, REZA & AMRAPALI jewelry finished up her look. 

Judy Greer wore a GRETA CONSTANTINE RESORT 2023 black crepe & yellow silk-taffeta, asymmetrical peplums gown. This gown looks so much better on the model. It just falls flat on Judy. The peplum detail looks sad and unflattering on her. 

Elle Fanning emerged wearing a ALEANDER QUEEN SPRING 2023 draped strapless, cutout dress. To avoid a washout, A colored lip was added to her beauty. However, I'm still not 100% sold on the color or the cutouts but she is wearing it well. Also, a sandal style would have been ideal. 

Daisy Edgar-Jones showed some skin in a GUCCI SPRING 2023 and I like this on her. It's sexy and chic. 

Natasha Lyonne rocked another GUCCI look, from the RESORT 2023 collection. This look suits her but that skirt and the platform heels don't compliment each other. 

Madelyn Cline wore a playful GIVENCHY PRE-FALL 2023 black feather dress. I feel like a red lip and a diamond necklace could have given her look the edge that it needed. 

Chelsea Handler chose color, wearing the orange MATICEVSKI ''Instrumental'' one-shoulder gown. Love the color but the fit of the top is not good and this really needed to be hemmed. NORMAN SILVERMAN jewelry finished up her look. 

Zoe Kazan stepped out in a RODARTE FALL 2022 and this suits her perfectly. However, I can't say that I really like her look. If that black lace panel on the waist was removed and she wore better shoes, this look would have been a win. 

Lily James wore a black see-through, tulle tea length dress from the OSCAR DE LA RENTA PRE-FALL 2023 collection. This is way better than her look from the Globes but I still don't like it. If this was fully lined in black, it would have been a win. 

Kate Hudson also wore OSCAR DE LARENTA but her dress is from the SPRING 2023 collection. My only quibble is that I wish the sequins covered the bottom as well but the color is not a match for her. 

Julia Garner wore a red semi-sheer SALVATORE FERRAGAMO PRE-FALL 2023 draped mini dress which was accessorized with BULGARI jewelry, a SKIMS bra and STUART WEITZMAN sandals. I don't think that she needed that necklace and I wish her STUART WEITZMAN red sandals weren't satin. 

Angela Bassett wore a CHRISTIAN SIRIANO PRE-FALL 2023 black strapless, velvet tiered peplum gown. This dress seems suited for someone on the taller side and that clutch doesn't belong here. 

Rachel Bloom also wore a gown by CHRISTIAN SIRIANO. Somehow the cutout neckline draws attention to the gown which would have probably been a snooze without it. It's not the most memorable look but it's not bad. MINDI MOND jewelry finished up her look. 

Kelsey Asbille wore a SAINT LAURENT SPRING 2023 black dress which she vamped up with a dark red lip. She topped off her look with NORMAN SILVERMAN jewelry. 

Niv Sultan also wore a SAINT LAURENT but from the SPRING 2023 collection. I feel like she should have worn the bracelets on both arms and added a red lip to make her hooded dress more exciting. 

Amanda Seyfried wore a CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING 2020 COUTURE  gold lame, cutout gown. The design of the top is the problem here and rumor has it that it ripped once she was inside which is why she wore a jacket onstage. This is just not her best. 

Milly Alcock wore a CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING 2019 nude strapless gown with a contrasting black waist sash. This would have worked better in a different color as well. POMELLATTO jewelry finished up her look. 

Kaley Cuoco worked her growing baby bump in a CHRISTIAN DIOR FALL 2022 COUTURE black dress.

Anya Taylor-Joy wore a nude CHRISTIAN DIOR see-through, tea length dress. I thought this was a great look but the color is a problem. 

Jessie Buckley brought some drama, wearing a VIVIENNE WESTWOOD black off-the-shoulder gown with a contrasting nude hem.

 

Bella Ramsey has become my favorite new style star. She looked fantastic in this TORY BURCH FALL 2022 ensemble. 

Rhea Seehorn sparkled in the JENNY PACKHAM SPRING 2023 ''Gazelle'' silver embellished gown. 

Claire Foy wore a custom PRADA SPRING 2023 strapless dress. The print looks amazing against her red lip but that draped panel in the back is what hurts her look. 

Amy Brenneman wore a classic TONY WARD COUTURE easemble which featured a white button down shirt and a sequin floor length skirt. She look great but it did remind me of the Valentino looks worn by Sigourney Weaver & Zendaya.  

Aubrey Plaza definitely turned heads in this LOUIS VUITTON creation. Love the ombre effect but the head styling doesn't work. However, I still like this. POMELLATTO jewelry finished up her look. 

Thuso Mbedu wore a cutout LOUIS VUITTON halter gown which was accessorized with YVONNE LÉON, RAINBOW K, DELFINA DELETTREZ and REZA jewelry. I am not a fan of the triangle cutout detail but other than that, she looked lovely. 

Phoebe Dynevor wore a LOUIS VUITTON dress of course and this would have been perfect in a different color. However, she still looked lovely.

Michelle Williams went back to LOUIS VUITTON and this is not the most flattering dress. Also the necklace doesn't work with it. 

Eve Hewson wore a two-tone cutout dress by CONG TRI and I am not feeling the design.

Sarah Hyland wore a STELLA MCCARTNEY dress that has already been done before but she doesn't look bad. 

Viola Davis looked beautiful wearing a VALENTINO SPRING 2023 brown pleated, cape gown. If this looks familiar, that's because Naomi Campbell wore it in silver in December 2022. The only thing needed was some gold jewelry. 

Patricia Arquette also wore a VALENTINO gown. However, I don't think this green cape gown is flattering on her. 

Britt Lower rocked a white HARITHAND cape suit and she looked fantastic. It's a chic twist on the power suit look with the addition of the cape but it does look a bit tight.

Abby Elliott cradled her baby bump in a ST. JOHN sequin turtleneck dress which was accessorized with NEIL LANE jewelry. My only quibble with her look are those blue satin, bridle like pumps.
