79th Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony & 'The Electric Venus' Premiere

Following the jury photocall, Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Chloe Zhao, Laura Wandel and more hit the red carpet for the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and ''The Electric Venus''( La Vénus Electrique ) screening which was held at the Palais des Festivals on this evening(May 12th) in Cannes, France.

Demi Moore came through sparkling in a custom JACQUEMUS FALL 2026 white strapless sequin gown with a peplum detail. I like this gown, but the hair that doesn't compliment the tone of it, and I wish the eyes were a little softer. Also, I feel like she needs some color here, maybe a necklace with colored stones.

Ruth Negga wore a custom CHRISTIAN DIOR green and black fringe lace dress with RENE CAOVILLA sandals. The silver platform sandals are not visible here, but I don't think they were a great choice. A simple black sandal would have been ideal. Also, it kinda looks like she is wearing a fancy night gown. It feels like it shouldn't work, but it kinda does. Overall, it's not my favorite but I don't hate it.

Jane Fonda also wore a sequin gown courtesy of GUCCI. Her black sequin gown was accessorized with a beautiful statement necklace to complete her look.

Stellan Skarsgård wore a classic double-breasted black tuxedo by BOTTEGA VENETA. His look got the job done, but the I dislike the droopy tie.

Anais Demoustier wore a white floral cold-shoulder gown with a waist train detail in the back by PRADA. The necklace complimented the v-neckline, but unfortunately the head styling didn't work with her gown.

Gong Li wore a custom BALENCIAGA black off-the-shoulder high-low hem bubble gown. She looked pretty but better jewelry was definitely needed to elevate this. Also, I would swap out those suede platform sandals for something with embellishments.

Caroline Daur wore the same ROKSANDA SPRING 2026 strapless color-block gown that we saw first on Jessie Buckley in October 2025. Nonetheless, she looked pretty in this playful gown.

Chloe Zhao turned to her go to designer brand, wearing a GABRIELA HEARST FALL 2026 black ruffle knit dress. I kinda wish that she had this lined and I am also missing the belt.

Frederique Bel showed some skin in a PIERRE CARDIN FALL 2024 black cutout sculpted dress. I like the addition of the hat, but I feel like her hair should have been completely off-the-shoulders. Also, I would swap out those pumps for an open-toe heel.

Heidi Klum wore a ELIE SAAB FALL 2025 COUTURE strapless gown with RENE CAOVILLA sandals. Although, I'm not sold on the color, this is her best look in a while. Also, I feel like she needed softer eyes.

Ikram Abdi Omar looked pretty in a white STELLA MCCARTNEY FALL 2025 ruched dress. If this looks familar, that's because Juliette Binoche wore it in black in January 2026.

Laura Wandel wore a CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING 2026 white halter dress which we saw first on Florence Hunt in January 2026. It could be the color, but I'm not excited about this on her.

Maika Monroe wore a ASHI STUDIO silver sequin gown that fit her perfectly. However, the makeup is not working for me.

Claire Holt wore a custom ELISABETTA FRANCHI gown which I thought she looked great in. However, the hair is lack luster.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu wore a purple SAINT LAURENT SPRING 2026 ruffle gown which was saw first on Beyonce last month. This is a lot but it's wearing her more than she is wearing it.

Poppy Delevingne went the vintage route, wearing a JOHN GALLIANO FALL 2007 black velvet dress with a scarf detail. She looked gorgeous.
