Lorna Simpson & Rihanna Collaborate for Essence's January + February 2021 Artistic Issue

Rihanna & renowned artist Lorna Simpson collaborated for the January + February 2021 artistic cover of Essence magazine which hits newsstand next week. Lorna and Rihanna worked together on her feature to reimagined a modern day beauty in a photographic collage titled ''Of Earth & Sky.'' The 12-page portfolio collage shows the badgal as Lorna's muse and the end results is fantastic as you can see. Continue below to see the rest of the images from the collage and for more details and to read the full article about Lorna & Riri's collaboration, click HERE.

…I needed to create images of Rihanna to place within the environments of source materials from my archive. For the project to have the same kind of dramatic visual intensity as my collage work to date, I had to consider the atmosphere and lighting of specific source materials before arriving to set. Knowing Rihanna’s charisma and commanding presence, my effort was then to be as present and prepared as possible to capture her exquisite performance for the camera... - Lorna Simpson

Rihanna & Kate Moss for V Magazine

Rihanna and supermodel Kate Moss teamed up for a 'Dominatrix Style' feature spread for the Spring 2013 issue of V magazine. Photographed by Mario Testino, the two sexy fashionista's pose in sexy lingerie and take turns being nude.

Some may be surprised that Testino was the photographer behind the shoot for the simple fact that he is mostly known for his high fashion and ethereal like shoots. However this just shows range and maybe a new direction.

I like this spread because even though it's overly sexy but it's done in a good way. Continue below to see more images from the spread with Riri and Kate and tell me what you think.

Italia Vogue goes Black!

Italia Vogue understands that their is a lack of ethnic faces in the fashion industry so they are trying to do something about it. They recently launched Vogue Black a site dedicated to promoting black models in the fashion industry. The site features topics about New Faces, The Black Blog, articles that feature Grace Jones & Tyra Banks, the model spotlight on Tolula Adeyemi who is the muse to Vivienne Westwood and the feature article "Love Your Natural Hair". I think this is a good start to get people to see how ethnic models have contributed a lot in the fashion industry over the years.

I went on the site and I have to say I am not disappointed, this could be the beginning of something. Could this change things for black models? Yes it could because the more spotlight we get the more opportunities can become available, hopefully. It won't happen overnight but it is definitely a step in the right direction. So hats off to Italia Vogue because even though they are across the pond they are still pushing for change. I guess it has to start somewhere but until we start to invoke that change here, we still have a long way to go. What do you think of "Vogue Black"?

Italia Vogue gets Curvy!

Italia Vogue keeps pushing the envelope and this time they are doing it with the curvy girls! They recently launched "Vogue Curvy", a site dedicated to promoting plus size models in the fashion industry. Model Cyrstal Renn is the cover model for the feature and she is not afraid to let loose. Full figure women get the short end of the stick when it comes to fashion and I think this will be a good eye opener for people to see how all shapes symbolize beauty.

Supermodel Lizzie Miller is among the featured plus models on the site. She has been modeling since 13 and is still going strong. Fashion looks down on women over size 6 but this sites proves "size does not matter". Vogue Italia also created "Vogue Talents", a site that puts the spotlight on new designers. Italia Vogue is doing big things to change the image of fashion. What do you think of Italia Vogue's new sites?
