68th Primetime Emmy Awards Wrap-up

The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night(September 18th) at the Microsoft Theater in LA. To see all of the red carpet looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Annalise Basso looked great in this ANTONIO GRIMALDI COUTURE indigo blue silk crepe gown with inlaid embroidery detail which she accessorized with an EDIE PARKER clutch and STUART WEITZMAN sandals. Love her red hair with this dress but I wish it was off-the-shoulders.

Tracee Ellis Ross who was a nominee, wore a custom RALPH LAUREN cream-colored one-shoulder dress which featured a hand-pleated & hand-draped silk chiffon overlay and silk charmeuse inlays. The cut-out waist added a flirty appeal to her all white look. I just wish she wore strappy sandals over her OLGANA PARIS white crossover strap pumps. DE GRISOGONO earrings, minimal make-up and a sleek, pulled back up-do finished up her look.

Angela Bassett was on hand to support hubby Courtney B. Vance who walked away a winner. The actress shined in her CHRISTIAN SIRIANO FALL 2016 yellow v-neck dress with wide, split long sleeves. Angela had the v-neckline shorten which worked for her. The color looks beautiful on her.

Ellie Kemper wore a sleeveless yellow & gold beaded JENNY PAKCHAM column dress. Her look didn't excite but she looked beautiful to me.

Joanne Froggatt kept it simple in a black strapless STELLA MCCARTNEY floor length dress with lace trimming on the bodice & a short train detail. She looked great but colored accessories would have enhanced her look.

Heidi Klum showed some skin in a shimmery white MICHAEL KORS dress with a long sleeve, a cut-out waist and a high split. Heidi looked great and so does her toned abs.

Abigail Spencer wore a navy & silver JENNY PACKHAM FALL 2016 sheer dotted tulle gown with an ruffled bodice. My only complaint here is that the hair should have been in a sleek off-the-shoulder hairstyle. A fuchsia lip and a small clutch finished up her look.

Olivia Culpo looked great in a ZAC POSEN SPRING 2017 strapless nude & white dotted bustier dress styled with a white box clutch and CASADEI sandals.

Amy Poehler wore a PAMELLA ROLAND SPRING 2017 light green beaded cape dress which she styled with gold accessories. I like how the color works against her red side swept waves.

Ariel Winter wore as sheer illusion beaded split detail dress by YOUSEF AL-JASMI. This feels so dated to me. STUART WEITZMAN sandals and a sleek center part bun finished up her look.

Yara Shahidi wore a CLARA ROTESCU white & nude printed shirt gown. Loved Yara's look and she knows how to pick pieces that work for her. ADE SAMUEL shoes, a JUDITH LEIBER clutch and a curly up-do finished up her look.

Felicity Huffman wore a TONY WARD FALL 2016 sleeveless white floral & nude gown with an waist cape detail. Tony Ward makes some great gowns but this feels like something that I may have seen from Zuhair Murad.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus fought back tears during her winning speech as she lost her father this past Friday(September 16th). My condolences to her. She did look lovely in a CAROLINA HERRERA sheer dotted halter dress with nude underlining for coverage.

Jane Krakowski worked her right leg in her go to designer, BIBHU MOHAPATRA. Her SPRING 2017 short sleeve organza & pearl beaded belted gown featured an asymmetrical neckline and high split. While the hair shoulder have been in a sleek up-do, I wish she kept the black beaded belt the dress was featured with on the runway instead of going with the matching style. LOUBOUTIN sandals finished up her look.

Minnie Driver was another celeb who wore a yellow dress courtesy of VERSACE. Her FALL 2015 midi dress featured an asymmetrical cut-out neckline, a cut-out waist and a side split. TAMARA MELLON sandals and straight off-the-shoulder tresses finished up her look.

Gwendoline Christie wore a custom GILES COUTURE black structured cocktail dress with a layered tulle hem. I actually thought Gwendoline looked great and then I saw her black pumps. Ankles up, I like this.

Natasha Lyonne wore a custom SALLY LAPOINTE white and black cape detail floor length dress. I like the idea of this dress for Natasha but padded shoulders are not her friend.

Tina Fey looked nice in a OSCAR DE LA RENTA clover pleated silk chiffon gown. This is memorable because of the color but she does look great.

Maisie Williams wore a Bespoke MARKUS LUPFER sleeveless dress which featured a black ruffled neckline, a floral embroidered bodice and satin skirt. Love Maisie's hair & make-up with this dress but a simpler sandals over her LOUBOUTIN sandals would have worked better. It's just a lot going on here. A CHARLES & KEITH clutch finished up her look.

Constance Zimmer was head to toe in MONIQUE LHUILLIER which featured a short sleeve white & pink floral embroidered layered dress, a pink clutch and color-block sandals.

Padma Lakshmi wore long sleeve silver sequin NAEEM KHAN RESORT 2017 dress. A pop of color came via her fuchsia lip. Simple but beautiful.

Sofia Vergara is such a beautiful woman with a nice body. This dated ATELIER VERSACE look is something that we have seen her in before. It's time for her to switch things up because this is not her best look. LORRAINE SCHWARTZ jewelry and GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI sandals finished up her look.

Sophie Turner looked a bit ghostly wearing a black VALENTINO sheer lace dress with an colored smokey eyes. I get the idea of the eye make-up but I don't think the final results made an impact. FOREVERMARK jewelry and LOUBOUTIN sandals finished up her look.

Tatiana Maslany walked away a winner wearing a ALEXANDER WANG RESORT 2017 sheer illusion cut-out dress. This is not the most exciting look but she looked nice.

Anna Chulmsky just had a baby and she wore a custom CHRISTIAN SIRIANO pink jacquard embroidered off-the-shoulder dress with an train detail in the back. While I am not to crazy about the shape on her, her shoe choice doesn't work for me. A simple strappy sandal would have worked best.

Niecy Nash also wore a CHRISTIAN SIRIANO dress. Her white strapless floor length dress featured a draped train panel in the back. She really worked this dress when she got on the carpet and she did it well. LORRAINE SCHWARTZ jewelry finished up her look.

Keri Russell wore a STEPHANE ROLLAND FALL 2016 COUTURE sleeveless white dress which featured a square open-back top and a sheer organza, split & train detail skirt. Keri looked regal, one of my favorite looks. GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI sandals, side swept tresses, a colored lip and statement earrings finished up her look.

Carly Chaikin wore a REEM ACRA FALL 2016 sheer black long sleeve lace jumpsuit with a sequin skirt. This maybe another sheer look but I think Carly pulled it off.

Neve Campbell hasn't been on the carpet in a while but she worked her frame in a custom CHRISTIAN SIRIANO black strapless lace appliqué gown. Siriano must have been the go to designer of the night because his name popped up a lot. Overall, Neve looked great and so does the gown on her.

Kaitlin Doubleday wore a LUDMILA COUTRE strapless column color-block cape detail dress. I like the dress but the hem doesn't look good. It appears to be a bit too long on her. Overall, she isn't selling this look to me.

  1. I liked Angela and some others are nice.

Off topic, but Cheri, have you considered doing Best Dressed polls to make your site a bit more engaging? :)
