2016 BAFTA's Wrap-up

The 2016 BAFTA's took place this evening at the Royal Opera House in London. To see all of the red carpet looks, click HERE and continue below for the wrap-up.

Angela Bassett wore a GALIA LAHAV magenta gown which featured a sheer illusion back panel and a ruched train detail. Looking at the pictures of her from the back, I wish the illusion panel matched her skin. However the color looked beautiful on her and she wore this well. A JIMMY CHOO clutch & sandals, MAXIOR JOIAS jewelry and a sleek center part bob completed her look.

Dakota Johnson wore a CHRISTIAN DIOR red silk Georgette ruffled detail gown. Love the color along with the matching red lip but I still feel underwhelmed with the overall look.

Saoirse Ronan wore a custom BURBERRY strapless firework sequin appliqué column dress styled with silver GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI sandals and a statement necklace. I am on the fence about the necklace as I feel it doesn't coordinate well with her dress. A wavy ponytail, kohl rimmed eyes and a soft pink lip completed her look.

Emilia Clarke wore a red VICTORIA BECKHAM v-neck dress with slashed shoulders. I really feel like I have seen similar dresses like this by VB on the carpet before but my main issue is all that fabric at the hem. TIFFANY & CO jewelry completed her disappointing look.

Julianne Moore wore a custom ARMANI white halter dress with black contrasting straps that flow into a drapes train detail in the back. Beauty wise she with a sleek high bun and a pink lip. CHOPARD jewelry finished up her look.

Isla Fisher hasn't been on the carpet in a while but the actress returned wearing a STELLA MCCARTNEY white dress which she accessorized with a ROGER VIVIER clutch. The dress looks a bit tight in the bust and a little too long at the hem for me. However I do love her minimal beauty look.

Kate Winslet continues with her underwhelming style wearing a black one-shoulder ANTONIO BERARDI dress with an asymmetrical neckline, a cut-out shoulder and a side split. Pops of color came via her red pout & clutch. On this occasion, I wish the hair was off-the-shoulder. Also she is wearing some boring black pumps with this dress.

Gwendoline Christie wore a LANVIN SPRING 2016 dark purple and white contrasting panel sleeveless gown. Gwendoline's gown hit the runway in a shorter version in black & white but this is definitely more suited for the occasion. ATELIER SWAROVSKI jewelry finished up her look.

Laura Whitmore stood out in a aqua SUZANNE NEVILLE long sleeve mock neck dress with a long key hole detail. A braided up-do, a gold & espresso smokey eye and nude lip completed her look.

Gemma Chan wore a long sleeve JENNY PACKHAM PRE-FALL 2016 sequin v-neck dress styled with a silver mirrored clutch and silver sandals. I think an straight off-the-shoulder hairstyle would have worked better here.

Laura Haddock wore a GIVENCHY 1967 HAUTE COUTURE black gown from William Vintage which featured a silk-chiffon long sleeve top and feathered silk. I am not too crazy about the platform sandals here but her beauty look works.

Rebel Wilson wore a black ensemble that featured a beaded trim jacket and a fishtail skirt. Add a simple strappy sandal, a red lip & a sleek off-the-shoulder hairstyle and this could have worked for me.

  1. Julianne Moore. Clean, simple, elegant - she looks perfectly classy and sophisticated for the formal event. Missing a clutch a little bit, but well-done.

    2. She actually arrived wearing a black cape & carrying a black clutch but removed it once she hit the carpet for pictures.

    3. Yep, checked it out. I think she looked chic with the full getup, but perhaps removing that black clutch for the red carpet was a good idea b/c without the cape it would've looked a bit too heavy and unbalanced.

  2. I love Saoirse's dress, but indeed, the necklace is out of place. It overpowers and takes away from the gorgeous color and beadwork of the dress.

Gwendoline looks striking in that color and silhouette, but the dress itself looks so unfinished and, well, cheap. I know it is supposed to have raw edges and whatnot, but it just looks shabby.

Love the color of Laura W's dress, but that's IT!

Rebel was so close, but she needs to ditch that Hi-lo hem she loves so much. This would have been perfect with a floor length skirt. (And a pop of color.)

    1. That hi-lo hem for Rebel needs to stop, exactly. One has to be blind not to see that it's not working for her.

  3. The color is fantastic in Angela.

I feel this is not the best I've seen from Julianne and is not new at all. She just looks good.

Soairse looks great to me, I get what you guys said about the necklace, but it doesn't take anything away from the look in my opinion. Without it, it would be really really empty and we'd have a strong feeling something is missing.

To prove my case, check Dakota, she wore her hair down not to look like something is missing.
